Drifting Away..

Well, my ears are ringing. Just back from a raucous night in the studio where we decided to get involved in one of Alan Lancaster’s finest moments, ‘Drifting Away’ from the Quo album. It was Woody’s fault really, he’d brought along a Marshall JCM900 that he’d just bought and along with his ex-Rick Parfitt Roland GP8 effects processor, a pretty monstrous tone was soon coming from his Telecaster. And before long he was riffing to ‘Drifting Away’. Well, it didn’t take long before Gary joined in. That caused Chris to step up to the mic and start bellowing out the lyrics. Once Steve had finished fiddling with his hi-hats, he mucked in as well.

Quo’d jamming on Drifting Away

It was SO good, we were even late for our mid-rehearsal cup of tea (no, we don’t take ‘sugar’ like Rick did..) and we think this will be a nice addition to the set. Here’s a little snippet of it from Steve’s drum cam..

Would you like to hear more from the Quo album? What do you think about us digging up some of the deeper cuts from the golden era albums. We’d love to hear (but you’ll have to speak up, our ears are ringing..)

Always enjoyed ‘Drifting Away’ from the very brilliant ‘Quo’ album. This would be a great addition to the set, as would ‘Lonely Night’ which was an out take from the ‘Quo’ album. ‘Spinning Wheel Blues’ from the ‘Ma Kelly’ album is another I’d like to see. Sorry to ramble on!
