Gary – Vocals, Lead Guitar
Gary has been a Quo fan since a very early age. The five year old Gary discovered a stash of LP’s underneath a stereogram at his Nan and Grandads house in the early 1980’s, dropped the stylus onto the Hello! album, heard Rick Parfitt’s blistering intro to Caroline and became a life-long Quo fan at that point. Soon after he started playing guitar at primary school, before joining bands in his early teens. Along side playing in Quo’d, Gary plays in several other bands, including tributes to ABBA and Eva Cassidy with the multitalented Sarah Booker as well as being an in demand function band musician with Frog On A Rocket. When not playing Quo, he’s an accomplished Blues, Soul and Funk guitarist.
Gary’s main Telecaster (nicknamed Ivy) was built for him by legendary luthier Mike Smith who has built guitars for Francis Rossi. While Ivy isn’t and was never intended to be a replica of Francis’ famous Green Tele, it’s intended to be a guitar that might have existed and come from the same production run as Rossi’s number one if Fender had offered them in that distinctive green.
Woody – Vocals, Rhythm Guitar,
Those of you who follow Quo and their tribute acts might already know Woody. A super talented Quo fanatic from an early age, he regularly fronts The Quo Experience and can be found lending his guitar and bass skills to other Quo tributes including Break The Rules and The Quo Story.
When he’s with Quo’d though, he’s in the Richie Malone mould, providing punishing rhythm guitar and powerful vocals on numbers like Mystery Song and Little Lady. Woody is possibly the only working Quo tribute artist who has commissioned a replica of Richie Malone’s ‘Cobra Telecaster’!
Chris – Vocals, Bass
Chris was also a Quo fan from an early age, led to the cause by his older brother and cousin. Having previously been in an (unsuccessful) AC/DC tribute with Mick Ioannis (our other founding member), they both decided to give Quo a go to see if it’d bring the mojo back. Fortunately it did, and Gary soon joined them in 2015 after which the band has gone from strength to strength. Founder member Mick left Quo’d in 2020 having moved away and so Woody joined the band to fill Mick’s shoes. Sadly Chris’ brother and cousin are no longer with us, but they’re there in spirit with Chris every time he takes to the stage.
Steve – Vocals, Drums
Steve joined Quo’d in January 2018 as drummer #5 and thankfully has remained as our powerhouse at the back of the stage since then.
Inspired by his father, Steve became a Quo fan from the first time he heard Caroline and used to do his paper round in the mid-80’s listening to his favourite album – On the Level.
Steve has played with many bands in and around Essex over the years. Most notably he toured the UK with ‘Tina Live’ in 2021 and he was also one of the drummers in the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in 2012, which if you’ve met him you have probably have heard many times!
